Frequently asked questions
Does SeventyCal show my events?
No, never. SeventyCal only draws the month grid (days, today, week numbers): it doesn't access any calendar, event, or appointment. Double-clicking a date opens Calendar.app, which shows your real events.
Why doesn't the app ask for calendar access?
Because that's not its job: SeventyCal is a visual shortcut to the current month, not a calendar client. By requesting zero permission, it technically cannot read or transmit any of your appointments. It's a privacy choice, not just a simplification.
Can I show week numbers?
Yes, a setting adds the ISO week number column to the left of the grid. You can also choose whether the week starts on Monday or Sunday.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the calendar?
The fastest way remains clicking the menu bar icon, always in the same spot. A global keyboard shortcut is being considered for a future version; in the meantime the icon stays one gesture away, wherever you are.
What's the difference between the website version and the App Store one?
It's the same app. On this website: a free 7-day trial, then a 6.90 CHF one-time license with automatic updates. On the App Store: direct purchase, updates through Apple. Pick whichever suits you.
Can I show the time in several countries, with their flags?
Yes. An item is made of segments, and each segment has its own time zone and language. The flag is derived from the time zone: leave the Mac's zone and it follows your location, switching by itself when you travel. No geolocation, no permission.
How do I choose the date and time format?
With drag and drop, in the configurator: ready-made blocks (02:33, 2:33 PM, Sun 13 Sep, 13.09.2026, W37…) and elementary blocks (day, month, year, hour, minutes, seconds, AM/PM) that you assemble with the separators you like. Every block shows its real value, there is no code to type.
Can SeventyCal hide the macOS clock?
macOS does not allow hiding it, with any setting. SeventyCal offers the most that is possible: shrinking it to a small analog icon without date, with one checkbox, and restoring it exactly as it was when you uncheck.
